Timber framers, traditional builders & joiners in Dorset

Pretty damn good ones too!

We are traditional builders with a modern attitude. Green oak frames, traditional masonry, intricate brickwork, slate roofing, lead work, plastering, finishing, architectural ironmongery, door hanging, groundwork services are all skills we're used to delivering on a daily basis be it using modern or traditional materials. We work as a team of two and for larger or time restricted projects, we have a small army of trades people who are used to working alongside us. Everything we do comes with a level of thought, planning and attention to detail unusual in today's building trade. By appointing us we can assure you of a service second to none.

Recent Work

15 Century Manor House Roof Restoration

We fully removed and restored the roof of a 15 century manor house. Really rewarding work when you peel off sections to find, and then work with, pieces of wood that have been there for hundreds of years. There is a real sense of pride working with genuine English heritage.
Specially made for a discerning client

Bespoke Seasoned Oak Garden Gates

One pair of specially commissioned garden gates designed for a beautiful property near Newbury. These were made completely from scratch, full mortise and tenon construction. Incredibly satisfying to see them in place.

Holwell Stables part 2

Back in Holwell, new stables for a new client. Oak framed with western red cedar on blocks. A little more intricate than the last, including stores, a tack room, roof storage and a covered walkway. Client is making his own doors and we are back in next month to make and fit the windows.

What our clients have to say about us...

"I would happily recommend Sellick & Saxton"

- Mrs Harris

"We got to know Luke & Neil really well when they were doing up our house. Absolutely top notch work and lovely guys too. Would highly recommend."

- Jane Washak

"We chose Luke and Neil because they showed a clear understanding of the project. Only when I saw their work each day did I realise just what craftsmen they are. My green oak frame is one of the nicest things I've ever owned."

- Ian Elliot
